What to expect

Joan Miró (1893-1983) was a Spanish artist known for his unique and imaginative style.

He was born in Barcelona and began studying art at a young age. In 1920, he moved to Paris and became involved in the Surrealist movement, although he developed his own distinctive style over time. Miró’s works often featured bright colors, simple shapes, and symbols inspired by Catalan folk art.

He created paintings, sculptures, and prints, and was known for incorporating found objects into his art. During the Spanish Civil War, he lived in Paris and created politically themed works.

He continued to work prolifically after the war, receiving many awards and honors throughout his life. Miró died in 1983 at the age of 90, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most important artists of the 20th century.
